A Series of One-Day Discussions on Humanitarian Principles for Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik in Palu, Donggala dan Jakarta.
Introduction
The humanitarian emergency situation in Central Sulawesi resulted from the recent earthquake coupled with tsunami and liquefaction require effective response management and coordination from the present humanitarian responders. Good understanding and exercising the humanitarian protection, principles, as well as personal safety and team security measures are important to guide humanitarian responders to assist the disaster affected people to enable them to rebuild their life and livelihood.
Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik
The Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik (YSTC) provided all their Staff in Central Sulawesi and in Jakarta Office one–day discussion on basic humanitarian principles aimed to provide venue for all YSTC staff to discuss about general humanitarian issues, the field staff experience in disaster emergency situation, and global reference of Humanitarian Charter and the Sphere Minimum Standard.
Objectives
The objectives of the discussions are to refresh the understanding of YSTC Staff and, for some new employees, to introduce them specifically about humanitarian principles, legal framework, protection, disaster emergency response system, and personal safety and security in disaster affected area.
Facilitators
CIRCLE Indonesia was requested by YSTC to facilitate the one-day discussion on basic humanitarian principles for the 114 Staff of YSTC in Palu on 28 Jan-1 Feb, 54 Staff in Donggala on 4-6 Feb, and 61 Staff in Jakarta on 29-30 May.
Circle Indonesia assigned four trainers experienced in humanitarian issues to facilitate the series of discussions; they are Benny Usdianto, Rinto Andriono, Mindaraga Rahardja, and Iskandar Leman.
